Protest screening!

In light of the administration withdrawing permissions in the last minute for hostel mess screenings, we have decided to have a protest screening.

Fire by Deepa Mehta, as per schedule - 9pm, 31 January, Friday, outside Ladies Hostel Complex.

The idea is to send out a strong message of protest against the administration's conservative attitude. Please join us, and help us spread the word. Thank you.

Hostel screenings cancelled

The administration has withdrawn permission to screen movies in the hostel messes on Friday and Saturday night. These screenings, therefore, remain unfortunately cancelled.

Welcome to Gender Reels

Gender Reels - a film festival, organised by GSCASH. January 30 - February 2, 2014.

Films revolve around topics like sexual harassment, gender constructions, homosexuality, transsexuals, rights of sexual minorities, relationships, sexuality, and other LGBTQ issues.

We have tried to create a blend of Indian and foreign films, introducing these issues. Our selection leans toward being popular, hoping that our discussions will take us deeper into these issues.

All films will be English subtitled. We will also have discussions after each movie.

Screenings at DST Auditorium (30 January), C V Raman Auditorium [Science Complex] (31 January), School of Humanities Auditorium (1st February), and SIP Seminar Hall [South Campus, Study In India Programme Building] (2nd February).

We also have screenings in the Ladies Hostel Complex Mess (30th January, 9.15pm) and Men's Hostel J&K Mess [South Campus] (1st February, 9.15pm). These screenings are open for all students. The attempt is to bring in new faces and genders into these otherwise highly gender selective spaces.

Please do help us spread the word. Do attend the screenings, and encourage your friends to join you!

We will soon (in a couple of days) put up a final schedule. Our blog and facebook page will soon have the schedule, posters, and synopses of movies.
